YOU HAVE TO RUN A STRICT PROGRAMFOR YOURSELFHi There! About seventeen years ago, I was 30, married, working full time as a public health consultant, and the heaviest I’d ever been. My job came first. My marriage came first. My family came first. Everybody came before me. And one day I thought, something has to change. So I made a decision. I hired a trainer, set a goal to step on stage in a figure competition in six months, and built my whole schedule around it. Gym at 6 a.m. Meals planned. Cardio scheduled. Rest scheduled. When I traveled, I called the hotel ahead to ask about the gym. When family visited, I told them, “I’m so glad you’re coming. I’m not available in the mornings.” Six months later, I was on stage in Atlanta. Not because I was lucky. Because I ran a strict program for myself, and I didn’t let anyone cross it. Not my job, not my family, not even me. Now, your program doesn’t have to involve a bikini (thank goodness, right?). It might be writing five pages a day on that book. Leaving work by 5:30 so you can make your Zumba class. Studying for the certification that gets you the promotion. Whatever it is, here’s where to start: 1_Get specific. “I want to retire someday” isn’t a program. “I want to retire at 55, and I’m increasing my contributions by 2% this year to get there” is. Clarity is what makes everything else possible. 2_Put it on the calendar. Your schedule should revolve around your program, not the other way around. If it’s not scheduled, it’s optional. 3_Tell people before they ask. “Here’s when I’m available" or "Here is what I can contribute to xyz this year” is a complete sentence. Some people won’t love it. That’s okay. You’re not doing this for them. We have less than 70 days left in 2026, so START NOW, NOT JANUARY 1ST. The woman who walks into 2027 different is the one who builds her program now and tests it against the holidays, the family visits, and the year-end deadlines. By January, it’s not a resolution because she made it a habit and now it’s just how she lives. So let me ask you: How many times this week did you let someone cross your program? Or better yet, do you even have one? I share the whole story, plus more tips in my video below. We dig into the areas keeping you stuck: work, boundaries, values, lifestyle, and more. I'll see you there. P.S. Know a woman who always puts herself last? Forward this to her. She needs this too. YOU PLANNED FOR SUCCESS, BUT DID YOU PLAN TO FEEL ALIVE? Hey Gorgeous, A few weeks ago, I was scrolling back through my camera roll from 2025, and I was smiling because it was a really good year. I hit or came really close to every goal I wrote down. The money. The speaking engagements. All of it. But the pictures that made me smile the most? They weren't on that list. They were the things I did spontaneously. The plane ticket I bought at the last minute. No plan. I just went. Those were the...
IT'S A SIMPLE QUESTION, BUT IT'S NOT AN EASY ONE Hey Gorgeous, I was walking through the park today. Birds chirping overhead, water running in the stream nearby, people out on the trails enjoying the morning. It's still warm where I live, but I noticed the leaves starting to fall on the ground. It reminded me that…Fall is coming. And I thought about something I told a friend not long ago. The seasons are one of the few things in life you can actually count on. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...
THE TIME I ALMOST DIED IN A PLANE CRASH AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME ABOUT LIVING Hello! So there I was on a work trip, going from Montana to Chicago. The plane had been in the air about thirty minutes when I started to smell smoke. Then all of a sudden the plane was shaking, and our oxygen masks came down from the ceiling. The flight attendant got on the speaker: "Everyone, please put your oxygen mask on now. Be sure to secure your own mask before assisting others." I thought I was going to die....
